I can’t believe how quickly 2 weeks has become over 3 months. The flowers are blooming, pollen is blanketing everything, and spring is officially here. It’s been an unseasonably warm one, with highs already in the 60’s. (Ha, and they’re never getting much higher than that, apparently, even in the heat of summer. Take that, Florida.)
Saw a whole slew of awesome musicians earlier this month at Big Ears: Angel Olsen, Kamasi Washington, Sun Ra Arkestra, eighth blackbird, Laurie Anderson, Nico Jaar, and Philip Glass (!!). It was my first time in Knoxville, TN, and everyone was so friendly, really enjoyed the chill downtown vibes, too. Hoping my main bae Steve Reich will come back next year <3
Currently working on a couple big projects here at the Press and excited to keeping learning more and more. Looks like I’ll be in PT for the summer while I search and apply for non-profit jobs. Here’s looking at you, Seattle, Chicago, New York, and San Fran. Tbh I miss the big city vibe for the music scene alone. I need a good DIY culture and a few weekly bruises from the pit to make me really feel at home.
Also got a few new poems in the mix, some I’ve let simmer for a while now, others pretty fresh that happened very quick. Not sure what I’m going to do with them yet. Publication is exciting and admirable, but I’m also really enjoying working on my craft quietly, isolated. (Maybe it’s the seclusion of the forest getting to me.) I’m super stoked about a collab that’s in progress at the moment, as well… More details and maybe even some photos to come ;)
We’ll see where this all goes. My 23rd birthday was last month, too, so I guess it’s rly prime time, y’all. (Never too old for bad puns.)
